A book documenting a major Pakistan Army mission, the Pakistan Army Mogadishu operation 1993, was officially unveiled to the public at the Army Institute of Military History.
The book, titled “Rescuing the US Rangers”, was launched at a ceremony attended by military veterans, educators, notable guests, and members of the public.
Written by Sarmad Zia, the publication highlights Pakistan’s role in a key operation in Mogadishu, Somalia, where Pakistani forces successfully rescued stranded US Rangers in 1993. The book provides detailed accounts of the planning, execution, and challenges faced during the mission.
It also includes interviews with Pakistani soldiers who took part in the operation, offering personal insights into one of the most recognized peacekeeping missions involving Pakistan’s military.
During the launch event, several veterans who participated in the mission shared their experiences and reflections. Their accounts gave attendees a closer look at the events and the coordination involved in the successful rescue operation.
The ceremony was widely attended and served as a tribute to the professionalism and courage of the soldiers involved in the Pakistan Army Mogadishu operation 1993.
