Malik Tariq Wazir was killed in a deadly IED blast that hit Rustam Bazaar in Wana on Monday morning. The explosion also claimed the lives of at least three people, including Malik Tariq Wazir, while four others suffered injuries, officials confirmed.
According to District Police Officer Mohammad Tahir Shah Wazir, the blast occurred near Gulshan Plaza when Malik Tariq Wazir’s vehicle was passing through the busy market area. The explosion was powerful and caused panic among shoppers and shopkeepers.
Officials said unidentified militants had planted the explosive device near Gulshan Plaza during the night. It detonated early in the morning when traffic was moving through the area. Police quickly cordoned off the site and launched a search operation to track down those responsible.
Rescue teams and local residents shifted the bodies and injured victims to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana for medical treatment and legal procedures. Authorities say investigations are underway as the region continues to face rising security challenges and militant violence.
