Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday expressed his gratitude for the failure of the “mischievous plot” behind the PTI protest.
After the operation to disperse the demonstrators, Naqvi praised the role of law enforcement agencies in maintaining order. During his visit to D-Chowk and Khyber Plaza, he acknowledged the Rangers, Pakistan Army, FC, and police forces from Islamabad, Punjab, and Sindh for their bravery.
He highlighted the courage of the Rangers, who led efforts to bring calm to the streets. At D-Chowk, Naqvi personally met law enforcement officers. He thanked them for their valiant work in clearing the area of protesters.
Naqvi also extended his appreciation to the Army, FC, and police for ensuring the capital’s security. Late at night, during the operation, PTI announced it had called off its protest in Islamabad.
A PTI spokesperson claimed that peaceful protesters faced a violent crackdown. He alleged that hundreds of innocent participants were injured as bullets were fired on them. The spokesperson also stated that the party’s next steps would be discussed in a core committee meeting.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi reviewed areas cleared of protesters. He instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to clean up and remove roadblocks. The minister also inspected the damage to buildings and facilities caused by the unrest. He assured steps would be taken to address the losses.
