Pakistan’s military establishment observed the 68th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed on Saturday, honoring the Nishan-e-Haider recipient for his courage, unwavering commitment and ultimate sacrifice in service of the nation.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that senior military leadership took part in the tribute. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, joined Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, along with the wider Armed Forces of Pakistan, in paying respects to the fallen war hero.

Per the ISPR statement, Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed showed extraordinary valor while commanding his troops during a military operation. Even after suffering severe wounds, he refused to step back, continuing to direct the assault until his soldiers achieved their objective.
His outstanding bravery and selflessness on the battlefield earned him the Nishan-e-Haider, the highest military decoration awarded in Pakistan. The honor stands as recognition of a soldier who placed duty above personal survival in a moment of extreme danger.
Beyond the tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, the Armed Forces and citizens across Pakistan also remembered every martyr who gave their life defending the country. Officials noted that the bravery, patriotism and devotion shown by these fallen soldiers continue to shape and inspire the generations that follow, serving as an enduring reminder of what national service and sacrifice truly mean.
