PSL 11 without spectators will go ahead this year after the Pakistan Cricket Board announced major changes to the tournament. The decision reflects the government’s push for austerity as regional tensions continue to affect normal life.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the league will now take place only in Karachi and Lahore. He explained that limiting travel and avoiding large gatherings will help manage the situation better. PSL 11 without spectators will remain in place until conditions improve.
The board has also dropped the opening ceremony to keep things simple. Officials want to reduce expenses while ensuring the tournament continues without interruption.
Despite these changes, PSL 11 without spectators will still run from March 26 to May 3. Defending champions Lahore Qalandars are set to face Hyderabad Kingsmen in the opening match at Gaddafi Stadium.
Earlier, several cities were part of the schedule, including Multan, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. The revised plan now keeps all matches limited to two major venues to reduce movement and logistical pressure.
Fans who bought tickets will receive full refunds. The PCB has apologised for the inconvenience and assured supporters that the refund process will be handled smoothly.
Naqvi also addressed security concerns and said there is no immediate threat. He praised the role of intelligence agencies for staying alert and preventing any potential incidents.
PSL 11 without spectators may feel unusual for fans, but the board believes these steps are necessary. The focus remains on keeping the tournament alive while ensuring safety and stability during a challenging time.
