RAWALPINDI: Police have tightened security around Adiala Jail, setting up additional checkpoints and installing containers on roads leading to the facility. Vehicles passing through are being thoroughly searched.
During the operation, police stopped the car of Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, two kilometers away from the jail. Despite presenting court orders permitting her to meet the PTI founder, she was temporarily halted. Today marks a designated day for family meetings in Adiala Jail, with Qasim Khan, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Noreen Niazi arriving to meet former premier Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has granted protective bail to PTI leader Asad Qaiser, ordering that he not be arrested until April 8. The PHC heard a petition regarding the cases against him, during which Qaiser stated that he intends to perform Umrah this Ramazan, requesting a hearing after the holy month. The court granted his request while directing the Attorney General’s Office to submit case reports.
Speaking to the media, Asad Qaiser condemned incidents in Kurram and stressed that maintaining law and order is the state’s responsibility. He also called for a revised Afghan policy with input from all stakeholders.
