KARACHI: Malaria has become rampant in Sindh province as more than 5,000 new cases were reported across the province in last 24-hours.
The rapid spread of malaria has resulted in the identification of 5,185 new patients within a single day, pushing the total number of malaria cases in the province this year to 352,238.
Over the past day, the breakdown of new cases is as follows: 2,243 cases in the Hyderabad division, 1,490 in Larkana, 949 in Mirpur Khas, 283 in Sukkur, 195 in Shaheed Benazirabad, and 25 in Karachi.
Within Karachi, specific districts reported the following cases: Malir with 12 cases, Korangi with 9 cases, and Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western districts each recording a single case.
Sindh has witnessed a dramatic surge in malaria cases this year, surpassing a total of 352,000 cases. Tragically, two lives have been lost to malaria in 2023.
