Actor and model Momina Iqbal has approached police in Lahore seeking legal action over allegations of harassment, blackmail and death threats against a PML-N lawmaker.
According to the complaint submitted at Chung Police Station, Momina Iqbal claimed the provincial assembly member repeatedly contacted her and her fiancé and issued threats through calls and messages. She alleged that the situation worsened after she rejected his marriage proposal after learning that he was already married twice.
The actress stated that the accused later began blackmailing her and used inappropriate language. The application also mentioned alleged WhatsApp messages and video calls linked to the matter. Momina Iqbal further claimed that threatening messages were also sent to her sister.
Reports said the actress visited the police station along with her legal team and discussed the matter with SHO Faheem Imdad. She requested the registration of a first information report and demanded legal protection for herself and her family.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the case would be handled strictly according to the law. In a statement shared on X, she warned that any attempt to use political pressure or influence in the matter would face firm action.
Earlier, Momina Iqbal had also shared details of the alleged harassment on social media. She claimed she had been facing online abuse, cyberbullying and threats for a long time. According to her statement, the pressure caused serious mental stress and emotional trauma for her family.
The actress also alleged that she had previously reported the issue to cybercrime authorities, including the FIA, but no effective action was taken. She claimed that instead of receiving support, efforts were allegedly made to discourage her from pursuing the complaint.
The case has drawn attention on social media, with many users demanding a transparent investigation and strict action if the allegations are proven true.
