A private college principal dies after suffering critical injuries in a shooting incident outside his campus in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Police confirmed on Friday that Principal Hamza Ahmed Dar passed away during treatment at a hospital in the Gojra area.
According to investigators, the attack took place a day earlier when Hamza Ahmed Dar stepped out of his office. The suspect allegedly opened fire outside the college premises and fled the scene after the attack. A college watchman also confirmed the sequence of events while recording his statement before investigators.
Police said the principal received three bullet injuries to the head and remained in critical condition before he died in hospital.
Officials added that the suspect was arrested while trying to escape. Police recovered the weapon used in the attack and shifted the accused into custody for further questioning.
Early findings showed that the suspect belonged to Wah Cantt and had been staying at a nearby hotel since Sunday. Investigators believe the attacker acted alone, and no accomplice has been identified so far.
