QUETTA: A weather system bringing rainfall is expected to enter Balochistan from August 15, according to the Met Office.
This new monsoon spell will bring rain, accompanied by wind and thundershowers, from August 15 to 18, with intermittent breaks, as per the weather report.
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Kalat, Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Mastung, Sibi, Sherani, Kohlu, Bolan, Harnai, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, and along the Makran coast.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has issued an alert, warning of potential flash flooding in the hill torrents of Kalat, Khuzdar, Barkhan, and Lasbela due to torrential rains. The PDMA has also advised the public to avoid visiting picnic spots during this period.
It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more monsoon rains across the country starting from August 14.
The Met Office noted that a low-pressure system currently causing rainfall in northwestern India is likely to move towards central Pakistan, bringing strong moisture from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
