LAHORE: Chief Selector of the Pakistan national cricket team Wahab Riaz has revealed the 17-member squad for the upcoming tour of New Zealand. In a press conference alongside consultant Kamran Akmal, the caretaker minister announced Shadab Khan’s absence due to injury and the rest advised for wicketkeeper Muhammad Haris.
Shaheen Shah Afridi will assume the leadership role for the tour, with notable players such as Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Muhammd Nawaz, Azam Khan, Osama Mir, Abrar Ahmed, Wasim Jr., Zaman Khan, Abbas Afridi, Aamir Jamal, Haris Rauf, Haseebullah Khan, and Sahibzada Farhan making up the squad.
Addressing Shadab Khan’s exclusion, Wahab Riaz acknowledged him as a valuable asset for the national T-20 squad but cited Haseebullah Khan’s consistent performance over the past two years as the reason for his inclusion.
