ISLAMABAD: Jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Tuesday objected to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa presiding case regarding the Punjab election tribunals.
During the hearing regarding appeals from the Punjab election tribunals and the Election Commission, Salman Akram Raja’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, raised an objection to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to rescue himself from the case. however, dismissed the objection.
The court was hearing a decision from the Lahore High Court concerning the formation of election tribunals, with a five-member larger bench led by Chief Justice Isa.
Hamid Khan argued that there were grounds for his objection to the Chief Justice’s involvement. In response, Chief Justice Isa stated that he could choose to recuse himself if he wished, and urged Khan to remain seated, assuring him that he would have the opportunity to speak later. Following this, Hamid Khan left the courtroom.
